Chapter 9
Chapter 9 speaks about graphs and their importance. I think graphs are very important becausethey help organize information. Also, graphs are a gat way to visually explain, and compare and contrast information. Personally i enjoy graphs way more then simply being handed writen information because graphs help me understand the information visually while color coating the information at the same time.

chapter 8
chapter 8 is about the authors thought pattern. The importance of chapter 8 is evident through out the chapter. this chapter helps the student better understand how to structure their paragraph. chapter 8 explains the 6 common thought problems. reading this chapter helped me realize that when you do have a "guide" or a specific structure that one should be writing in it makes the writing a lot easier. i think reading this chapter helped me a lot in restructuring my paragraphs and essays so that they flow better, and have a more accepted structure to them rather than confusing everyone in my writing.

Chapter 7: Understanding Paragraphs supporting detail and transition
chapter 7 i feel is very important because it is the basis to any literature piece wether it is a paragraph, a story or a book. chapter 7 talks about how each paragraph or story is essentially broken into parts. the chapter breaks down the parts and teacher the mechanics of writing a paragraph. after reading this chapter i realized that writing a paragraph is a lot easier to me now than it was before reading this chapter. when dividing the paragraphs you are forced to give detail for every fact, and that essentially develops you paragraph into well thought out and detailed piece.

Chapter 6
What this chapter teaches is how important
paragraph structure really is. After reading this chapter I realized how easy
it really is to write a paragraph is you know what you are doing. Firstly it is
important to have a good topic sentence meaning that your topic sentence has to
be broad enough so that every other sentence in the paragraph ( detail )
describes your topic sentence. Once you have a good topic sentence, as long as
your facts / details are not false and you are supporting the topic sentence
then there is no way for the paragraph to have false information. Reading this
chapter made me realize that sometimes it might be more worth it to spend some
time and come up with a good topic sentence so that I can have less of a hassle
when writing the rest of my paragraph.

Piercing & Tattoos
In history
piercing and tattoos were not very accepted by society unless it was part of
their culture, but today piercings and tattoos are considered body art or a
“form of expression”. Personally I love tattoos but I would never get one
because I’m scared to regret it in the future but piercings are my favorite
thing. Usually when im really stressed out or going through a hectic time I would
go get a piercing. My parents hate it but I do it anyways because in way it’s a stress reliever for me. I love
piercings so much to an extent that I would go get a piercing knowing my father
would make me take it out but I do it just for the adrenaline rush and for the
sake of saying and knowing for myself that I had that piercing.
When I do get pierced I always go to
the same guy that did all my piercing because im a generally very sterile girl,
and since I get so many piercing I am already familiar with the way my
piercer works and how sterile their facility is. It is very important to be
sure that you are always pierced with a clean needle and your piercer or tattoo
artist is licensed.
Chapter 5
Chapter 5 is important in teaching students how to
guide their reading. Chapter 5 teaches the students how to guide their reading
and what to look for when reading. It is important to have background information
and a little knowledge about the topic one is reading. Also, when you guide
your reading most of the time it makes it easier for the reader to understand.
Chapter 4
Reading this chapter taught me that there is no
individual who truly knows every word in existence. This chapter teaches how in
the English language there are many ways to figure out the meaning of a word
without actually knowing the words definition. Personally I think this chapter
is important because it can help any student come around words they do not
understand throughout their college career.

Gambling
I think gambling is a very serious problem and
addiction. People who gamble don’t necessarily understand how harsh their
condition/addiction is. Gambling to some people is a way to distress while
having fun and experiencing a constant adrenaline rush. Gamblers also are so
set on maybe “next time” ill actually win more money and that is how they
constantly keep on betting and loosing money in hopes of maybe they’ll win the
next round.

Chapter 3
Context clues are very important. It is rarely possible, if possible at all to have a story flow properly without any context clues. The 5 context clues; definition, synonym, example, contrast and interference are all extremely important when putting together a writing piece. It is important for writers to use there clues properly to help develop their story in a way that makes it easier for the reader to read and understand.
chapter 1
Reading this chapter taught me how important it is to be involved in a major that interests you. Also, it is rather important to have a plan possibly as to what you want to do in your field of study. Finally, it is just as important to feel confident in what you do or study because employers in the work force usually look for someone with a diverse educational background when hiring.

Chapter 2
Chapter two taught me how important it is to communicate with people. Communication skills are very important especially knowing how to react in specific situations. This chapter is specifically helpful in teaching students how to react when encountering a dilemma while engaged in a conversation. although is was interesting to read the chapter and see different ways of responding to conversational dilemmas, i feel like a lot of the stuff is basic manners and social skills but the text book simply point out the proper way of responding.
